Las Vegas

Today (Wednesday 25th) I went up early and had a shower cause I came home late yesterday from the soccer game and I didn't want to wake up the kids so I skipped the shower, pretty grouse I know!!
I went through my room one more time to see if there was sth I had missed in my packing. I hate packing, especially when U need to think of not taking too much. I would have one suitcase to check in but there is the tent and the sleeping bags so there is not so much space for anything else. My stuff is in my new Converse bag and my backpack, the bags I'll have as carry on when I travel back to Sweden. After packing the stuff for this trip, I'm getting nervous about my home trip!
Jonas and Sofia took me to the airport and we arrived early cause we had counted with a lot of traffic but it was not that bad. Sofia was a bit sad and she wanted to come with me in the suitcase but I said NO...now it's my vacation and I've deserved it!
The flight was at 10:39 and I arrived at around 8!! Which meant that I had about 2 1/2 hours to spend. I checked in my bag and went through security without any problems and then Kadda joined me around 9. She was really sad cause she said goodbye to her host family when they dropped her cause they wont be there when she'll get back home. They're going on vacation just before we return. So she wasn't such a fun travel companion but that was OK cause we didn't have seats next to each other. We booked the flight so late that they only had single seats left and I got a special seat with extra leg space. Normally U have to pay extra for them but since I booked online and they couldn't give me any other, I didn't have to pay!! It gets even better, I didn't have anyone next to me so I could almost lay down which was really nice! The flight to Vegas was nice, even though I couldn't sleep.
At the airport we took our bags and took a shuttle in to our hotel. We were in one end of the famous strip, and of course the shuttle started on the other side, but that was OK cause then we got to see all of the other cool hotels. At one of the hotels there was a speed bump and the driver drove a bit fast over it so we jumped of our seats. It was totally hilarious ;)
There was so much to look at, U didn't know where to look first! Our hotel was super cool! It's called the Luxor and has the shape as a pyramid!! How many can say that they've slept in a pyramid ;)
We checked in and the room was really nice. The window was in a angle, since it's a pyramid ;), so I always hit my head when I wanted to look out ;)
We changed and then looked around in the hotel which also was a casino and there were a lot of shows going on. We wanted to get tickets for Chris Angel, the magician, but they were a bit too expensive for our budget. We had dinner in the food court and then went out to walk down the strip with all the hotels and casinos.
It was really HOT!!! I can't believe how people can stand it and the air was very stationary with no sea breeze or anything.
Now when it was a bit darker it was so cool. All the hotels with all the lights made the street shine like nothing else. I think U can see it from space ;) Next to us was the Excalibur, which had the shape of a castle. Next was New York, New York which was the New York skyline with the Empire state building and the Statue of Liberty. They also had a roller coaster through it all which looked really cool.
We walked down the road and saw so much cool stuff. There was the Paris hotel with the Eiffel tower Cesar's palace with the big fountain show, Venice with the water channels, Treasure Island with the volcano show and so much more. It was really hard to get good pictures with all the lights, which was sad cause I want U to see how beautiful it was. U just have to use your imagination!
Stupid me thought it would be nice to be a bit fancy and wear my high heels when we walked the streets of Las Vegas, I don't think I realized how long we actually would walk. After maybe 3 hotels, it was torture for my feet and I have to take the shoes off. I had blisters everywhere and my feet were burning. It wasn't much more pleasant to walk barefoot on the hot pavement and I couldn't find some simple flip flops to buy. A good start on this vacation...stupid me!!
I found a pair of cheap and ugly sandals, so I could run in to Hard Rock and buy a t-shirt for my collection!
At the hotel I tried to wash my feet (they were black at this point) and that was both painful and nice. It took us a couple of hours to walk down and back the strip so we were really tired when we finally got in bed after midnight knowing that we had to stand up early in the morning.
Even though I'm in the casino's hometown, I didn't play. I tried once but didn't know how to do and I didn't wanna look stupid so I walked away ;) I'll go again when I have a guy who knows how to play and then I'll win some money ;)
ps. Now I can write Nevada on my list of states I've visit ;) ds

Miss U all!
Love Sandra
